Chests and Respiratory Physiotherapy
Chest physiotherapy is a series of physical therapies that help you breathe easier by enhancing lung function. Chest physical therapy, or CPT, helps to improve drainage of heavy lung secretions, strengthen breathing muscles, and expand the lungs.
Diseases like CF and COPD are treated with chest physical therapy (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Additionally, it prevents pneumonia after surgery and during periods of immobilization by keeping the lungs free. Different forms of chest physical therapy are frequently combined by healthcare professionals, including:
- Chest percussion and vibration
- Controlled coughing techniques
- Deep breathing exercises
- Incentive spirometry
- Positioning and turning from side to side
- Postural drainage
